Lloyd Axelrod, M.D.
Dr. Axelrod is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also Chief of the James Howard Means Firm at the Massachusetts General Hospital (a subdivision of the Medical Services with the mission of teaching and counseling medical students, residents and other trainees) and a member of the Diabetes Unit at that hospital. For many years Lloyd conducted laboratory and clinical investigations in the area of diabetes, adipose tissue and prostaglandins, and also in other fields of endocrinology and metabolism. Lloyd is the author of 50 articles and nearly 20 book chapters. He received his A. B. degree from Princeton University, his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School and his clinical training at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Enrico Cagliero, M.D.
Dr. Cagliero is a clinical research physician at the Diabetes Center of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Enrico is currently engaged in five main areas of research: islet transplantation, prevention and therapy of Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular complication of diabetes, diabetes and schizophrenic disorders, and improvements of care for Type 2 diabetic patients. He is also interested in novel therapies for diabetes and specifically on islet transplantation, being in charge of the clinical trial unit of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Center for Islet Transplantation at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cagliero completed his medical degree at the University of Torino, Italy and his internship and residency training at the University of California, San Diego.

Howard Wolpert, M.D.
Dr. Wolpert is Senior Physician in the Section on Adult Diabetes and Director of the Insulin Pump Program at Joslin Diabetes Center.  Howard’s clinical and research interests concern improving patient adherence and the introduction of new technologies into diabetes care.  He is the editor of Smart Pumping, published by the American Diabetes Association, and Transitions in Care (in press), a guide that addresses the challenges faced by young adults and their parents during the transition to independent diabetes self-care.  Howard has been an expert advisor to the New England Healthcare Institute for its report on the introduction of continuous glucose monitoring into diabetes management.  Dr. Wolpert completed his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in South Africa and his residency training at Harvard Medical School.
