Jens Brange, Ph.D.
Dr. Brange is the President of Brange Consult and the former Director of Diabetes Pharmaceutical Research for Novo Industri A/S (now Novo Nordisk A/S). Jens is one of the foremost experts in insulin pharmaceutical development, was the first to physically stabilize insulin with additives and the first to design insulin analogs with improved pharmacokinetic profiles. Dr. Brange is author and co-author of more than 50 scientific papers, 11 book chapters and 2 monographs. Dr. Brange received his M.Sc. and D.Sc. from the Royal Danish School of Pharmacy in Copenhagen.

S. Edwin Fineberg, M.D.
Dr. Fineberg is Emeritus Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Ed’s research work included a 20 year collaborative relationship with Lilly Laboratories during which he designed and conducted the testing and measurement of insulin antibodies for all of their insulin trials worldwide. He currently serves on advisory boards of several pharmaceutical firms engaged in insulin therapy and peptide delivery programs. Dr. Fineberg received his A.B. from Dartmouth College, his M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and trained at Johns Hopkins.

Charles W. Finn, Ph.D.
Dr. Finn is Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer for RRD International, LLC and has over twenty years of experience in the research, development and government regulation of biological and pharmaceutical products. Chuck began his career as a Staff Fellow at FDA (CBER), and then held senior positions at Lederle-Praxis Biologicals, Miles Pharmaceuticals, Genetics Institute, BRI International, Quintiles, and Prestwick Clinical. He was Senior Vice President at Quintiles were he managed both product development and regulatory activities. Dr. Finn earned his B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maryland and his Ph.D. in Biology from Georgetown University.

Irwin J. Goldstein, Ph.D.
Dr. Goldstein is a tenured professor at the University of Michigan Medical School and was Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies there for 13  years. Irwin is one of the world’s leading authorities on sugar-binding molecules and is a pioneer in the discovery, isolation, production, and application of plant-based lectins. Over the last 45 years, he has written and co-written more than 270 scientific papers relating to carbohydrate-binding molecules. In addition, he has served on five journal editorial boards, including the Journal of Biological Chemistry and Carbohydrate Research. Dr. Goldstein received his B.A. in Chemistry from Syracuse University and his Ph. D. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota.

W. Kenneth Ward, M.D.
Dr. Ward is a clinical diabetologist who has written over 40 articles on diabetes and has 15 years of experience in glucose sensor research. Ken also serves as Clinical Associate Professor at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Ward obtained his B.A. in Chemistry and Biology at Whittier College, his M.D. from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, completed his Residency in 1981 at the University of Colorado Affiliated Hospitals, and completed his Fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 1984 at the University of Washington.

Gordon C. Weir, M.D.
Dr. Weir is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation Chair, and heads Joslin Diabetes Center’s Section on Islet Transplantation and Cell Biology.  Gordon served as Joslin’s Medical Director for 9 years, while also conducting a broad research program.  He was Editor-in-chief of the journal Diabetes and has served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Physiology and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.  Dr. Weir completed his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and his residency training at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH.
